The Telecom Seeds for the Future Programme is Huawei's global CSR flagship programme, which seeks to develop local ICT talent, enhance knowledge transfer, promote a greater understanding of and interest in, the ICT sector, as well as improve and encourage regional building and participation in the digital community.
Through the programme, Huawei collaborates with ICT Authority and higher education institutions(local universities), to select top students, and offer them valuable opportunities to study and gain work experience at Huawei headquarters in China, which enables the students to gain exposure to Chinese culture and cross-cultural work experience in a globalized business environment.
Since its launch in Kenya (and 1st Country in Africa) in 2014, the Telecom Seeds for the Future programme has so far seen over 100 students gain practical training and internship at Huawei Technologies Ke. Ltd and 37 travel to China for further training for 2 weeks. The programme is entrenched in an MOU signed in June 2014 and renewed in Nov 2017 as part of the wider Kenyan ICT master plan which seeks to develop human capital and workforce to drive the ICT industry.
The program targets to enroll top engineering students from Kenyan Universities in their 3rd , 4th and 5th year of study and equip them with necessary, practical industry skills. Therefore, if you would like to become a telecommunications engineer this is your chance to grow in this field.
